2 finely chopped green chillies (optional if you like the heat)
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cayenne
2 tsp salt
5 sliced pittas (63g) - I used wholemeal for extra fibre and protein
cooking spray (I used avocado oil)
120g 0% Greek yoghurt
60g light mayo
juice of half a lemon
1-2 tsp honey
1-2 tsp garlic powder
salt to taste
Directions
In a large bowl, combine the lean ground beef, finely diced onion, minced garlic, chopped coriander/cilantro, chopped green chillies (if using), smoked paprika, black pepper, cayenne, and salt. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Divide the meat mixture evenly among the 5 sliced pittas, spreading the filling inside each pita pocket.
Preheat a non-stick pan or griddle pan over medium heat and lightly spray with cooking spray (avocado oil).
Toast each stuffed pita in the pan for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the outside is crispy and the meat is fully cooked through. Cook longer if needed.
While the Arayes are cooking, prepare the garlic white sauce by mixing together the Greek yoghurt, light mayo, lemon juice, honey, garlic powder, and salt to taste until smooth.
Serve the crispy beef Arayes hot with the garlic white sauce on the side.
